My Favorite Colorado Rocky Mountain Wedding Images of 2012
It’s one of my favorite times of the year. The New Year. Time to breathe. Rest, nap, refuel and clear. Time to time to take stock of the last year and dream up the coming one. I’m wrapping up old projects- or just letting them go. I’m creating fresh new folders for this year’s finances and boxing up the old ones to store in the closet for seven years. I’m purging email inboxes. I’m culling my images from 2012 down to a handful of favorites. It’s way too easy for me to focus on what is not yet done and creating new projects. I have to be very intentional about looking back and celebrating what has been accomplished, what I’m proud of. Breathing in satisfaction. Saying to myself – “Job well done, Regina. Really nice work.” It was a quiet wedding season here in Colorado. I loved it. I’ve traveled SO much for destination weddings over the years. They’ve always been amazing. There’s just a TON of lugging, preparation and travel time involved. So it’s been super refreshing to just hop in the Jeep for a mountain drive on the weekends. Here is a set of images ranging from Della Terra Chateau in Estes Park to Planet Bluegrass in Lyons, CO to an intimate elopement at Chautauqua Mountain in Boulder. Interesting tidbit: I’m a Boulder native. And I can’t get enough. This is home for me and I’m happy as a clam. Or a mountain goat.

Allison and Carlos: A Rocky Mountain Wedding at Crags Lodge in Estes Park, Colorado
Allison and Carlos chose a quiet and rustic Crags Lodge for their summer destination wedding in Estes Park, Colorado. It wasn’t surprising that the couple who wanted a Paint Fight for their engagement photo session thought of so many creative details for their wedding. I loved the bright lime green, yellow and apricot bouquets with dusty miller. The handmade signs for bride and groom side of the ceremony were adorable and I wish I knew how they did them so I could make some for my house, like “bedroom,” “washroom,” “India’s crate,” “utensil drawer,” etc. Allison’s little blue BCBG flats perfectly matched her brilliant blue eyes. The cupcake stand was adorable with the top cake looking like aspen bark which was a theme throughout the wedding. The coup de grace was a piñata for all the kiddos and they knew JUST what to do! So many beautiful colors and the affection of this couple was contagious- and really wonderful to photograph.

The Wedding of Cara and Brandon at the Della Terra Mountain Chateau in Estes Park
Cara and Brandon had their wedding at the breathtakingly romantic Della Terra Mountain Chateau nestled in the majestic grandeur of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. It was a beautiful summer day for an Estes Park destination wedding with a sky full of puffy clouds – my favorite. They had ten attendants on both sides, all full of spunk and silliness. I definitely had to step it up and put those groomsmen in their place a couple times so I didn’t get run over. Cara told me at their engagement portrait session that she LOVES having her picture taken and I’m inspired. She just GLOWS in every photo and it’s because she embraces her beauty and doesn’t shy away. She doesn’t tense up or cringe or fidget or start apologizing for looking dumb – ALL of which I do when a camera is pointed in my direction. I want to be like Cara. Confident, adorable and sweeter than the Skittles I’m eating right now as I post this. And Brandon I love. Genuinely just the warmest guy and he treats his girl like a princess. They’ve been dating since she was sixteen. Yup. And August 11th was their eight year anniversary. Hence, the infinity diamond necklace from Tiffany’s that he sent up while she was getting ready for the ceremony. She is a princess. And her husband knows it. And now so does the rest of the world. (Thank you times infinity to TJ Romero for second shooting this event with me. You are a dream to work with and got some absolutely stellar shots that Cara and Brandon will adore. You are so rad.)
