newborn baby portraits of miss taylor in recherche photography studio . . .
I had the privilege of meeting this sweet little girl just two weeks after she was born. She was very polite when she awoke to find me smiling down at her with a big black camera. Not so sure about stripping down for her first photo shoot with Recherche Photography but I sweetened the deal with a SUPER soft brown blanket which seemed to do the trick for the couple minutes I needed. I was smitten by her big grey eyes and the folds of her beautiful baby skin. Seems her parents are quite taken in as well. They are doing The Baby’s First Year package so look for more photos of this little beauty in the coming months.![]()
Newborn Baby Portraits with Cooper in Louisville, Colorado. . .
It just does not cease to amaze me – photographing a pregnant belly and then meeting the previous occupant. I am overcome with wonder every single time. I loved photographing Emily’s maternity photos and am super excited that we are doing a Baby’s First Year Package for little Cooper so I can document the many changes in the coming year. (Gosh, does he look his dad or WHAT?!)

A Documentary Photo Session with the Young Family in Portland, Oregon . . .
Rae and I have been comrades since college. I photographed her wedding in Costa Rica and we have kept us as best we could through the birth of her twins at 24 weeks and everything that goes along with that miracle. I’ve longed to visit her in Portland but it took some big news to finally get me on a plane: an unexpected newborn baby girl AND a last-minute job position which will move them to Tokyo just after the new year. I was flying out just a few days after that conversation. I had such a wonderful time with Rae and her sweet family. Alex was searching for houses in Tokyo when I arrived so I got lots of baby time with Evelyn and late night chats with Rae. The twins gave me a freezing whirlwind tour of the Portland Zoo and Timber the beagle was the queen of hospitality. I managed to snap a few photos in between it all and picked a few to share here on the blog- now that it is finally back online. Stupid hackers.
Daddy shows the kiddos their housing options in Tokyo.
Someone is happy their dad is home!
Pleased to say that neither of us look too different than our college years!

Newborn Baby and Family Portraits in Louisville, Colorado – The Stewarts
The Stewart family is such a cinch to photograph. Sweet, warm, affectionate, intelligent and gorgeous. New baby Hadley is one lucky girl. She has landed in just the right spot. Unless she doesn’t like kisses. In which case she is in the wrong spot.
You might remember Wes’s photo shoot in a field playing his favorite U2 song on his drums and his guitar when he was about three years old. This time he walked in the door singing “Beat It.” Not only handsome but amazing taste in music. Nice.
A Newborn Baby and Family Portrait Session with the Moore Family in Louisville, CO
Introducing my newborn niece: Enjolie Helena Moore!!!
How to describe the aching love I have for my niece? Her big sister, Ellyana is the twinkling little star in my life so I had an inkling that my heart would be again stretched beyond my imagined capacity. Isn’t it amazing how our hearts can just stretch and stretch?! I have not the words to express my feelings, so as usual, I just shoot. After several failed attempts of placing this infant in super creative vintage props which resulted in emphatic indignant wailing (i.e. crying), my sister and I decided to try just ONE more idea but take it outside. Who knew? Enjolie just needed some fresh air. Gorgeous session with my gorgeous sister and sweet family. Maybe, just maybe, there will be a few more photos of this little one.

A Newborn Family Portrait Session with the Baumgartners from Boulder, Colorado.
Just a handful of weeks ago I met the Baumgartner Family for Natalie’s maternity session and I think it’s fair to say that we all became instantly enchanted with one another. I gave Celia a banana and we are now fast friends. Little Della is too precious for words. Thankfully, I have a camera, so when my words run dry (or amuck, which is more often the case), I can just shoot.
Note: Both of the Baumgartner’s maternity session and newborn session were Mini Studio Sessions.

A Family and Newborn Portrait Session with the Meyer Family in Louisville, Colorado
I have had the privilege of working with the Meyer Family since their son, Luke, was about 7 months old. I was flat out giddy when Anji called to say they had a new little bundle for me to photograph! Lily is about four months old and we’ll be doing the Baby’s First Year Package to document her metamorphosis! Stay tuned for more images of this little beauty and her gorgeous family!

Portraits of a Newborn Baby. . .
This little one is just a couple weeks old! You might remember his gorgeous mama’s maternity portraits- and just a month later here’s a little bambino!
Rane & Aubrey Goldberg: Portraits of Newborn Twins
This was such a special portrait session for me. I photographed Carol & Nick’s wedding at Gold Lake Mountain all the way back in 2003. At that time they had no plans for children. So I was so surprised to get Carol’s call with the news that they were pregnant with twins!! I drove to their home just a couple weeks after they were born for this portrait session and was mystified by the entire experience. How does anyone manage twins?? We’re doing a Baby’s First Year Series for these little ones so we can all look forward to more photographs in the coming months!

The Johnson Family has a new member!
I loved seeing the Johnson family again this fall! I photographed Gavin in the fall of 2006 and he is a little man now! A little more ornery and opinionated (his parents clued me in to these new developments) but just as fabulous! This shot was one in a million and I feel quite lucky to have snagged it!
Anyone with a four year old should recognize this less-than-refined camera smile phase! I have to include it though because it SOOO captures this age. I know we’re all hoping for the picture perfect family shot, but personally I end up preferring a little “spice.” I guess because life is never really picture-perfect; just a mixed up bag of happy, sad, funny, infuriating, tidy, messy… But all together it equals incredible.
A little bribe action…another consistency in portrait sessions.
Yippeeeee! Love this shot! Too big overalls, pudgy four year old hands holding a new baby brother, baby fingers curled up by his big brothers.
This shot is why the family came in. A long-standing family tradition of the baby portrait in the great great grandmother’s christening gown. Dad isn’t fond of his little boy in a “dress” but who are we to stand in the way of tradition?
Ok, who is this “extra?” And what a nutty shot! A little background: I watch my niece most Friday mornings. The Johnsons said it would be fine to have an extra little person around. She LOVED Gavin! And while we were photographing the baby they played together (i.e. Ellyana mimicked everything Gavin did and hijacked all his toys). I had to swing around to document the moment for myself! Just a little peak into what’s going on around me while I was shooting the “christening gown” image.
A farewell to her new friend. I seriously cannot stand how adorable she is. I just turn into a puddle of mush. (By the way, I looked almost exactly like this when I was little, in case you were curious.) ![]()
