It is so much fun to work with this family. Bella has all sorts of interesting things to tell me the second she walks in the door and her baby sister, Ayla, has her own kind of spunk. We packed their Mini Portrait Session full of the most gorgeous images. Originally Julia scheduled her session online for 11am but it was soooo garishly sunny out that we pushed it out into the afternoon. We just kept texting until the girls were up from naps and the afternoon thunderstorm had passed by. Just a bit of drizzling and I got my favorite natural light in the world.

The Bliss Family came for a Mini Portrait Session and, as always, they lived up to their name. They are one of the sweetest families I have ever met. What a treat to spend the morning with people that enjoy each other so much and are content to let the session unfold without tension or expectation. I never really know what the light is going to do or where we’ll end up for my Studio Sessions. On this particular occasion we eventually ended up piled into my doorway! Whatever works!

We are doing a “Baby’s First Year Package” with Lily but we decided to sneak one more little Mini Session in between her newborn and 6 month sessions because she was already changing so much! Big brother, Luke, got to watch 101 Dalmations on a big couch in our basement while we played with Lily upstairs in my studio for half and hour and chatted away.

Another very fun Mini Portrait Session with the Weakley Family! Last time I saw them Jane was just starting to toddle around. Now she is a little lady and a BIG sister to baby brother, Miles! He is in the “NO” stage but lucky for me he is enamoured with his sis so was easy to re-direct. Tickling is a very good trick for a grumpy two year old who is not interested in sitting still. Or instruct the parents to start laughing. I guarantee the kids will join in with no idea what the joke is! I am consistently amazed at how many fabulous images we can create in a very laid back 20-30 minutes. This session had a surprise ending: our sprinklers went off unexpectantly and Jane had a little romp. The last image has to be one of my all-time favorites. I couldn’t have planned it any better!

Just a handful of weeks ago I met the Baumgartner Family for Natalie’s maternity session and I think it’s fair to say that we all became instantly enchanted with one another. I gave Celia a banana and we are now fast friends. Little Della is too precious for words. Thankfully, I have a camera, so when my words run dry (or amuck, which is more often the case), I can just shoot.

This is a new family for Recherche Photography and we had so much fun! We were able to create maternity portraits of Natalie who is expecting their second baby in just a couple weeks plus family portraits plus portraits of their first baby who is a little lady by now! It was a whirlwind of a shoot, but that seems par for the course around here! As always, we were all surprised and delighted with the results. Hard to miss with a family as pretty as this. (How poetic.)

I’ve had so many emails and phone calls about this elusive bite-size Studio Mini Sessions which historically have only been offered a couple times a year. Here at last is the opportunity to have fine art timeless images of your little one or family created at a price that will fit a little better in the budget. (As the family & business bookkeeper, I know ALL about budgets! Eeeek!)

Mini Sessions are availability Wednesdays, Thursdays and a few limited Saturday sessions, but with summer light we can shoot until 6pm! Sessions are 30 minutes and only $295, including the digital files!

Speaking of Mini Portrait Sessions, here is the session that inspired me to open them back up. Abby and Drew flew in for a ski weekend and came by my studio to order their wedding album. We did a mini photo session while they were here as there was no possibly way I could resist photographing their little girl. Can you blame me?!
