I am BIG advocate of letting go of what is familiar and opening your heart to change. This summer I had the privilege of following through on a promise I made to my sister years ago- when you are ready, I will help you move to wherever you decide to go. I take great joy in not just encouraging people (from a safe place on the other end of the phone) to get out of their comfort zone but to be a physical catalyst. What would any of us do without our champions? I’ve had several throughout my life so I know how crucial they are when you are sitting on a terrifying precipice of change. So scary to be there all alone. Just to have a hand to grip, someone along side of you saying, “you got this…and if you don’t I’ll be right here,” makes all the difference in the world. I love to be that person.

I was so very excited for this new adventure in her life. Thankfully Jay decided to come along because he navigated and drove that rig the whole way out. Lots of gas station junk food, a stressed out kitty and a concentrated dose of catching up and projecting the immediate future ensued. I loved that time with Jordanna. People always say that I would love Portland, if I can handle the rain. In my mind rain = lush = gardens. So when I get the chance to visit a rainy spot, I KNOW I will be visiting their gardens with camera in hand. Photographing in botanical gardens is one of my great life joys. Along with puppies. And Christmas lights. And cuddling with my nieces. And Ireland.

This year I spent The Fourth of July with my sister and husband in the Portland Rose Garden shooting until it was too dark to focus. One of my favorites ever. I am happy to share a few of my favorite images from that trip. More to come from our trip to the Victoria Butchart Gardens. Stay tuned!

Recherche Botanicals Page is Now Live on the Website botanical
I am so very excited to finally have all three facets of my photography combined here on the Recherché Photography website. Thank you to Brigid Filmer with Bsimple Designs for helping me create a lovely catalog of Recherché’s Botanical Collection, nicely sorted by both category and color. These images are my personal delight. I’ve created them over the years as I’ve traveled for destination weddings and events. It feels very cohesive and complete to have them now gracing my website alongside my wedding and portrait portfolios. Please feel free to contact me if you are thinking of adding some lush art to your home, office or business. I offer complimentary on-site design consultations. If you are an interior designer please get in touch if you would like a physical catalog of this botanical collection to offer your clients. And if you are a lover of beauty, take a moment to savor the wide array of colorful blooms.

Fine Art Botanical Photographs of Peonies

Fine Art Botanical Photographs of Peonies botanical
Peonies are beloved of all those who appreciate sumptuous enchanting beauty. Which is why I nearly swoon every time I have the opportunity to photograph them. These are 25 year old plants blooming in a neighbor’s garden here in Louisville, CO. I happened upon her peonies very late in the season last spring and created some very crinkled vintage-esque images that I love. I was ripe with anticipation for the chance to photograph them at their peak this year. I happily confess these are some of my favorite botanical images yet. Very excited to add them to my botanical fine art collection.
